PLATFORM EXPERT MASTER (HYBRID)

Location: Lisbon / Portugal

Work model: Hybrid (2/3 times per week in Client (Lisboa)

Language Requirements: English (C1/C2) / Portuguese and Spanish (nice to have)

We are looking for a highly skilled Platform Expert to lead strategic initiatives aimed at optimizing data platforms and driving FinOps excellence. This role is best suited for a seasoned technologist with deep expertise in Azure-based data services and a passion for designing cost-efficient, scalable architectures.

Key Deliverables

• Develop and maintain technical guidelines, reference architectures, and development blueprints.
• Perform code reviews to ensure quality and best practices.
• Define and execute a FinOps strategy for data platforms (e.g., Azure), ensuring cost efficiency and business alignment.
• Optimize data transformation pipelines and processes, balancing cost, scalability, and performance.
• Build monitoring and automation frameworks/dashboards to control and reduce costs.
• Advocate and promote FinOps culture, supporting engineering and data teams in adopting cost-conscious practices.

• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong collaboration skills with experience working in global teams.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Commitment to delivering high-quality outputs.
• Proven experience leading strategic projects.
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
• Advanced expertise in Azure data platforms and solution design/architecture.
• Relevant technical certifications.
• Advanced hands-on experience with Azure Databricks, Data Factory, Synapse, and Fabric, including performance and cost optimization of clusters, jobs, and pipelines.
• Strong skills in monitoring and automation: dashboards, alerts, tagging/attribution, rightsizing, scheduling, and automated workload management.
• Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages (PowerShell, Python) for instrumentation, cost analysis, and catalog integration.
• Experience defining and tracking data efficiency metrics (e.g., cost per job, TB processed, pipeline run) and designing OKRs/KPIs for cost reduction and performance improvement.

Nice to Have

• Additional language skills: Portuguese, Spanish.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies, JIRA, and Confluence.
