About the Opportunity
We are looking for a QA Functional Tester to contribute to the quality and reliability of technology solutions within the Energy sector.
You will be responsible for analysing functional requirements, creating and executing test cases, validating APIs, identifying defects and supporting the technical investigation of issues. You will also monitor test and quality metrics while collaborating closely with developers, analysts and other project stakeholders.
The role does not require Java development experience. However, you should understand the fundamentals of Java-based applications and be comfortable working alongside Java development teams.
This is an excellent opportunity for a QA professional who wants to strengthen their experience in functional testing, APIs, SQL and quality processes within a collaborative hybrid environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Analyse business and functional requirements.
- Identify ambiguities, inconsistencies and potential quality risks in requirements.
- Create, document, execute and maintain functional test cases.
- Prepare test scenarios, test data and expected results.
- Support the definition and prioritisation of testing activities.
- Execute manual and functional tests across different application flows.
- Perform API testing and validate requests, responses, status codes and payloads.
- Use SQL queries to validate data and confirm test results.
- Execute tests in virtual environments.
- Record, document and communicate defects clearly.
- Support the investigation and analysis of software defects.
- Retest resolved issues and execute regression testing when required.
- Monitor defects throughout their lifecycle.
- Report and track testing and quality metrics.
- Provide technical support for QA activities.
- Collaborate with Java developers, business analysts and other project stakeholders.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and quality standards.
- Produce and maintain testing evidence and documentation.
Mandatory Requirements
- At least two years of professional experience in Quality Assurance or software testing.
- Practical experience with functional and manual testing.
- Experience creating, executing and maintaining test cases.
- Experience analysing and validating functional requirements.
- Strong practical knowledge of SQL.
- Ability to write queries and validate data in databases.
- Hands-on experience with API testing.
- Ability to validate endpoints, requests, responses, payloads and status codes.
- Experience executing tests in virtual environments.
- Previous experience working with Java development teams.
- Basic understanding of Java applications and development environments.
- Experience reporting, tracking and analysing defects.
- Ability to produce clear testing evidence and documentation.
- Fluent Portuguese.
- English proficiency at B2 level or higher, both spoken and written.
- Availability to work on-site in Oeiras three days per week.
Strongly Valued Qualifications
- ISTQB Foundation Level certification.
- Experience with Postman, SoapUI, Swagger or similar API testing tools.
- Experience with database validation and data integrity testing.
- Knowledge of REST and SOAP services.
- Experience with test management and defect-tracking tools.
- Familiarity with Jira, Xray, Zephyr, TestRail or Azure DevOps.
- Experience executing regression, integration and end-to-end tests.
- Knowledge of quality and testing metrics.
- Experience in Agile environments.
- Previous experience in the Energy or Utilities sector.
- Knowledge of Spanish.
The Ideal Profile
The ideal candidate has at least two years of practical experience in functional testing and is confident creating test cases, validating requirements, executing API tests and querying databases with SQL.
You are analytical, organised and detail-oriented. You can identify inconsistencies, document defects clearly and collaborate effectively with technical and business teams.
You do not need to be a Java developer, but you understand the basic structure of Java-based applications and are comfortable working closely with Java development teams.
You communicate fluently in Portuguese, have at least B2-level English and are available to attend the office in Oeiras three days per week.
An ISTQB Foundation certification and knowledge of Spanish will be considered advantages.
